Hi Zoe -  I'm an unofficial amateur rockhounder with a very modest collection I've gathered and purchased over the years (starting with picking up rocks along rivers as a kid while my dad was drift boat fishing). After looking at your site, I want to do some exploring with my kids!

Anyways, nice job on your website!  I will use it to plan a trip with my kids, and will recommend it to others!  Thanks.

This site is awesome.  Gator Girl, your rock!  If you ever visit Montana again, I suggest checking out Lolo Pass near Missoula.  I have found very nice Quartz crystals at this site.  Again, great site.  Best on the web.

Hi Zoe.  I'm a casting director in Los Angeles and am under contract with ****** Productions.  We are looking to develop a TV Series on Rockhounds!  Please let me know if you're interested, if you can refer me to some great rockhounds, or help get the word out!  Thanks!

My daughter loves rocks...period.  In a few years she wants to go to college and study to be a geologist. It's how she views God's creation.  Since I adore her, like any father, I have tried hard to find her places to look for rocks, gems, etc.  When she was very little, she would collect rocks, wherever we would travel, in a little sock and sling them over her tiny shoulder.  Her love has become my hobby too now.  We both LOVE your website.  We can't thank you enough.  What kind of wonderful person would put all this together for others to read and enjoy.  From this father to you...THANK YOU!  May God richly bless you!!

Hi Gator Girl!  I just stumbled across your website, and I thought you might want to add a new location to your North Carolina listings in your State-By-State section.  This is a fee dig location, but the staurolite is abundant here and well worth a visit.  Here's a link to the information about it, if you'd like to check it out and share it with visitors to your site [see North Carolina section, which has been updated].

Hi!  I just found your website and am thrilled!  It's obvious you are passionate about rockhounding and have a blast doing it.  I live in Utah with my husband and 4 kids, and we also love rockhounding.  As you know, Utah is an awesome place to rockhound!  How do you have enough time for your adventures?  Are you a home-schooler?  How have your parents helped you develop your love of the natural world?  My husband and I want our kids to have a life-long love of nature and we do tons of hiking, backpacking, rockhounding trips, etc. and I just wonder if there is anything else you'd suggest.  Good luck with your future adventures!  Thanks.

I must say as a gemologist/rockhound I am very impressed with this site.  I will definitely recommend it to all my friends.  I am also very stoked to see kids that are into and appreciate minerals and specimens, very heart warming.  Also check out the oceanview mine, if you like, it’s in Pala CA, and I’ve found lots of great tourmaline, beryl, and spodumene crystals.  Keep up the collecting and get everyone you can into this great hobby!

Hello Gator Girl, my name is Phillip and I live in Palmer, Alaska.  I am a huge rockhound and found your site while searching the net for Alaska rocks and minerals.  You guys have built a great and very informative site!  I belong to two rock clubs here in Alaska … and we go all over Alaska looking for rocks.  Because Alaska is so large with so few roads, many of our trips are 4 wheeler, then hike in trips, often totaling a hundred or two hundred miles.  Some examples of our finds are agates, fossils, prehnite, calcite, aragonite, garnets, amber, concretions, labradorite, and gold, just to name a few.  We have found agates that weigh 150 pounds, ammonites that are the size of car tires, pleistocene bison bones, and pink and purple agate.  I love living here, there is so much cool stuff and many places that people don't ever see.  …  Again, great site and good hounding.

Wonderful web site full of information and links to even more information.  In viewing your pictures, you were very lucky to have parents who exposed you to the geologic wonders around you.  Keep on rockin!
